Gun Barrel City is ideally located an hour outside of the DFW Metroplex, which makes it easy to access one of our most treasured attractions, Cedar Creek Lake. This incredible lake is the fourth largest lake in Texas with abundant water activities and attractions. Thousands of visitors come to Gun Barrel each year to enjoy the natural wonder of Cedar Creek Lake, and appreciate its amenities, including fishing, swimming, boating, birdwatching, biking and water sports. The impressive lake is over 18 miles long and approximately two miles wide. The stunning body of water is home to three islands managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as Wildlife Management Areas.
In addition to the lake, Gun Barrel’s parks include playgrounds, scenic walking trails, swimming areas, basketball courts, picnic shelters and fishing piers. Each park provides its own beauty and uniqueness. Tom Finley Park is located on one of the islands and offers several boat docks for easy access to the park. Gun Barrel City Park
As a coveted place for the community to gather, Gun Barrel City Park offers endless activities and spacious areas. Whether you are organizing a game of baseball on one of the three fields, looking for a scenic walking trail, playing soccer or want a playground area filled with slides and climbing walls, the park offers it all. After a full afternoon of play, gather for a picnic complete with charcoal grills, picnic tables and abundant open areas for lounging and tossing a frisbee. The park also provides an amphitheater for local performances and concerts.
Tom Finley Park
Uniquely located on Cedar Creek Lake island, Tom Finley Park is the ideal area to make a pitstop while boating. How convenient it is to drive your boat up to the island and enjoy lunch with grills, picnic tables and a pavilion provided or enjoy the open areas to run and play. Fishing from the dock is very popular at picturesque Finley Park.
